‘Arabesque’ Fashion Show

The 13th Annual Fashion Show held at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar is the result of a full project for Fashion Design students at VCUQatar, which includes every aspect of fashion show production from designs and model try-outs to the runway show.
Tickets will be available free of charge from 6:15pm at the door on a first come, first serve basis. Only one ticket will be given to each person attending. Due to strong demand, guests are encouraged to arrive as early as possible. The show starts at 7:30pm with doors closing at 7:15pm
Eric Raisina, a fashion designer and weaver from Madagascar who recently participated in Doh’Art Intercultural Festival at Katarawill be the guest designer.

SustainableQatar monthly meeting: Bee Keeping in Qatar.

SustainableQatar is a volunteer-based organisation that meets monthly to address environmental issues relevant to Qatar. This month will host Khalid Alsuwaidi, one of the few professional Qatari beekeepers who has been experimenting with creating better hives for the hot and humid weather conditions of Qatar

Man to climb the Torch bare-handed.

A man known as ‘The Spiderman’ will attempt to scale the outside of The Torch Hotel without a safety rope or harness! He has previously climbed the Empire State Building in the USA and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Get a job!Well the weather’s getting warmer albeit windier, so lots of activities are moving inside. That’s good news for places like the QNCC building which has a packed program this week.

Get a job! The largest recruitment event for young people in the country, the Qatar Career Fair will host over 150 companies. In Conversation: Cai Guo Qiang with Abdelwahed al-Mawlawi

Fourth biennial Hamad bin Khalifa Symposium on Islamic Art at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA)

The three-day symposium, ‘God is Beautiful; He Loves Beauty: The Object in Islamic Art and Culture’, is being held at the MIA from October 29 to 31 and is open to members of the public

According to the Gulf Times, it is “considered the pre-eminent conference regarding Islamic art and culture, the symposium features 12 speakers from around the world, all leading scholars in Islamic art and architecture, whose papers will focus on objects in the collection of the Museum of Islamic Art.”

I’ve been told that this is the premier business and networking event in Qatar.
